The Secret To Enjoying The Startup Grind

How to turn entrepreneurial chores into opportunities for skill development and enjoyment.

Entrepreneurship is 99% about grinding through tasks you'd rather skip.

And the secret sauce is not just to swallow the frog, but to actually enjoy it.

Here's how I do that:

Whenever I'm starring at a task that screams chore, I hunt for the silver lining:

My chance to pick up a new skill.

Take launching a new product: I love the creative part, but dread the operational marathon that follows:

  • The relentless testing.
  • The exhaustive marketing.
  • The never-ending feedback loops.

You name it.

But in my head, I flip the script:

  • Is this an opportunity to practice my formal writing?
  • How about turning this into a video presentation?
  • Can I spin some short-form reels from this?
  • What about video shooting and editing?
  • I've been wanting to dive into that!

Suddenly, my dread turns into a selfish hunt for a new skill.

What felt a minute ago like a chore now becomes a game I want to play.

Yes, I'm still dealing with the frog, but now it's glazed with maple syrup.
