Making Peace With Social Media
I've hated social media for as long as it's been a thing, but I'm finding a way to make peace with it.
You've probably seen me around lately. Maybe it's time you show up more too.
Think about it. We've both been lurking in the background for far too long:
- Consuming
- Watching
- Waiting
Chances are, like me, you've been holding onto your likes and comments. Treating them as rare treasures, rather than things to share.
Then there's the fear of being watched and judged. I struggled with it, just as you might be doing now.
But here's the thing: most people are too caught up in their own digital lives to focus on you and me.
And those likes and comments you're holding back? They're far more valuable in use than in reserve.
Lately, I've been engaging more:
- Liking
- Commenting
- Diving into discussions.
Doing all those things I used to shy away from.
This shift is leading to deeper, more authentic connections. Some even turning into digital friendships.
I've also started writing more, not just privately, but publicly, right here.
It's become my way to articulate my thoughts and get feedback on them.
And this thing I used to dread? Well it's slowly growing on me. And I have a feeling it'll grow on you too.
If you're struggling to find something to write about, don't rush it. Just start by engaging with others' ideas. You'll be amazed at how it changes your perspective.
And when you're ready to share your thoughts, I'll be here ready to cheer you on.
